About the Author

Merilyn Is an author, a speaker, and a counselor.  Her first novel, The Children of Main Street, is at the publishing house of: Firefly Southern Fiction, and will be released next year. She won first place for unpublished manuscripts, in women’s contemporary fiction at the Florida Christian Writers Christian Conference, 2017.
 
Merilyn is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and the local Houston chapter, Writers on the Storm.
 

Background:  Merilyn was born in the red clay hills of Alabama and moved to Texas with her family when she was fifteen.  She was educated at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas.  Her degrees are in psychology.  She went on to be a professor at Lamar University, Port Arthur, Texas and opened a private practice called Howton Family Counseling.  Merilyn and her husband Rick make their home in Spring, Texas.  Together, they have six children and seven grandchildren.
